Meet Our Veterinary Team

Dr. Michael Starrett, DVM

Dr. Mike Starrett was born and raised in Utah, where his love for animals and the outdoors first took root. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Science from Utah State University while working full-time as a veterinary technician for five years, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in patient care and client communication. He then went on to pursue his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at St. George’s University, completing his clinical training year at North Carolina State University with a focus on both small animal and equine general practice.

During veterinary school, Dr. Starrett served on the executive board of the surgery club, helping organize numerous hands-on wet labs to give students greater exposure to surgical techniques and gain confidence in the operating room. His dedication and skill earned him multiple awards in academics, small animal surgery, and equine sports medicine.

As a practicing veterinarian, Dr. Starrett enjoys many aspects of the job, but has particular interests in surgery, dentistry, and sports medicine. He is passionate about creating a supportive, collaborative environment where pets and their owners feel comfortable and cared for. His approach combines strong technical expertise with a deep respect for the human–animal bond.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Starrett enjoys spending time with his wife, two dogs, and newborn son. In their spare time, they can often be found fly fishing on a river, photographing wildlife in Yellowstone, or cheering from the stands at local rodeos.

Dr. Karley Noto, DVM

Dr. Noto is a proud Italian and Louisiana native, who not only grew up in Baton Rouge, but also attended LSU for her undergraduate and graduate studies. Her passion to become a veterinarian started at a young age. Dr. Noto also specializes in veterinary acupuncture, treating patients utilizing both Eastern and Western medicine. Some of her special interests include palliative care, physical therapy, ultrasonography, diagnostic imaging, and neurology.

Dr. Noto enjoys spending time with her huge family and her dogs at home, including her handsome Vizsla named kevin. When she is not at the hospital, Dr. Noto loves checking out new restaurants, running, going to hockey games, and watching football (Geaux Tigers, Geaux Saints). Veterinary and non veterinary mission work is another passion of hers, especially Honduras, as she spent a vast majority of her mission work there. While Dr. Noto is a proud Louisiana native, she has enjoyed exploring what Las Vegas has to offer.

Callie Trainor, DVM

Dr. Callie Trainor grew up in New Jersey and has always had a passion for animals, especially horses. At a young age, Callie proclaimed that she was going to be a veterinarian when she grew up and she never wavered. After graduating with a B.S. in Animal Sciences with a minor in Equine Sciences from West Virginia University, Dr. Callie began to pursue her dream of veterinary school and was accepted to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She traveled and lived on the island of St. Kitts with her beloved German Shepherd, Harley, by her side. When she wasn’t studying. Dr. Callie enjoyed her time on the island by hiking, reading, and making frequent visits to the beach with Harley. When she returned stateside, Callie was reunited with her cat, Dani, and all three made their way to Purdue University for her last clinical year of veterinary school.

Dr. Callie gained an exceptional amount of experience in many specialties but always excelled in general practice and internal medicine. She received a Veterinary Clinical Sciences Award for Exceptional Clinical Proficiency from Purdue University following her graduation for outstanding performance regarding patient care, teamwork, and knowledge.

Dr. Callie has recently added a new addition to the family, a rescued Doberman puppy named Amira. Dr. Callie is excited to be a part of South Valley Animal Hospital and is dedicated to providing the highest level of care for your beloved pets. Whether it is a routine checkup or a more serious condition, Dr. Callie is here to offer guidance, support, and exceptional care every step of the way.

Thad Frerking, DVM

Dr. Thad Frerking grew up outside Kansas City, Kansas. He received his undergraduate education and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University.

Although his professional interests are in surgery and dermatology, he loves all aspects of veterinary medicine. His four-legged family includes a little dog with an oversized personality by the name of Rocky.
In his free time, Dr. Frerking enjoys staying active, watching his hometown sports teams, and eating good food.

Dr. Dina Ibrahim

Veterinarian

Dina Ibrahim is our Small and Exotic Animal Veterinarian from North Carolina. She went to North Carolina State University and graduated with a dual degree in Animal Science and English Literature as well as a Vocal Performance Music Minor. From there, Dr. Dina went straight to Veterinary School at North Carolina State University where she specialized in Zoological Medicine. Dr. Dina is passionate about working up her cases from start to finish and values the importance of continuity of care. She loves the opportunity to take any Continuing Education available so that she can offer as many services as possible to her clients. Dr. Dina’s favorite question from clients is, “Well, how many pets do YOU have”. Lovingly called, the Zoo, Dr. Dina’s house is full of over 100 different animals and she will happily spend as much time talking to you about them as you will give her.

Outside of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Dina enjoys being out in nature with her husband and dogs, karaoke nights with friends, and spending time with the multitude of animals in her home.
